home with guttersYour home is one of your most important investments. And, even though all houses have doors, four walls, and a roof, there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your needs. Gutters, like door knobs, brick layout, and tile choice, can be customized, too! Your Keller gutter company can help you sort through the variety of options to choose gutters that will look and function best on your home.

Choice 1: Sectional or Seamless

In our last blog post we outlined the differences between sectional and seamless gutters. Sectional is the conventional type of bulky gutter that often sags, leaks, or malfunctions. We always recommend seamless gutters. They have fewer connections and are fit to your home upon installation, so there is far less risk of them leaking or sagging. Seamless gutters made out of aluminum are also far less likely to rust and require future maintenance.

One of the most important customizations is color. You want to make sure your gutters blend with or accent the color of your home perfectly — and that the paint is high-quality enough to withstand the Texas sun, heat, and rain. We offer a full range of quality color options, so there is sure to be one that will suit your house perfectly.

Choice 3: Square, Circular, K-Style, Ogee

Old fashioned sectional gutters are usually square or circular, but today’s gutters can be “K-style” or “Ogee.” It is a different shape that looks less conspicuous, reduces the risk of clogging, and has a higher capacity to hold water than circular gutters. Square and circular gutters are likely to warp or leak after years of receiving rain, but K-style gutters (our recommendation and the industry standard) hold up to the task far better.

Choice 4: Leaf Guard

One of the most annoying things about having gutters is that you have to clean them out periodically. Leaves, small sticks, and, in many Texas gutters, old pecans can build up and leave the gutter clogged and increase the risk that it will leak or sag. A leaf guard can help. We recommend stamped steel mesh gutter covers, which are a very affordable option in leaf guards. Our selection also absorbs light rather than reflecting it, for a more attractive solution overall.
